Magnus 900

Along with the rest of the school, we have been participating in some activities to learn a little bit about St Magnus.  We invited local storyteller Tom Muir in for a story telling session with some of the children.  Tom told us the story of St Magnus and we have been talking about St Magnus' bones ever since.

Tom emailed us some photos of the bones to look at.

This led to discussions about going on a trip to St Magnus' Cathedral to see where the bones were found and to the Takerness Museum to see the box they were found in.  The morning group were lucky to have Tom onsight at the museum when we were there to tell us a bit more about the wooden box that was found in the Cathedral.  Fran Hollinrake the Custodian of the Cathedral met us there to give us a tour and tell us more about how St Magnus became a Saint.  Here are a collection of some of the photos taken on our trip.

One of the things that we noticed on our trip was the shape of the building.  We have been working in our groups to create our own mini cathedrals using the blocks.  We are also going to be making our own stained glass soon so keep an eye on our windows over the next few weeks.

We would like to say a big thank you to Tom and Fran for taking time out of your days to share your stories with us.  Also thank you to all the parents who were able to join us for our trip.
