Love is in the air

We have been having fun with hearts, roses and all things Valentines this week.

Hearts and glittery playdough

We made rose scented pink rice to put in the sensory tray

When it was dried we used the peedie muscles in our hands to tweezer out all the love hearts

We made ourselves some yummy chocolate hearts with edible rose petals, we cant wait to taste them!

We made heart shaped sun catchers, using coffee filters, marker pens and water.

For snack on Friday we painted hearts on our bread and toasted it. We were very pleased with our pretty toast.

Chinese New Year

This week we learned a bit about the Chinese New Year, we watched some clips on cbeebies lets celebrate and found out that 2016 is the year of the Monkey.

We ate noodles for snack

We had a go with using chopsticks to pick things up, its quite tricky.

We had noodles in the sensory tray too.

We also tried some Chinese writing.

We got interested in finding China and many other countries on the map, we wonder if anyone has been to visit any far away places in the world?

Dressing up!

We love playing at dressing up in the nursery, here are a few photos of our role play in the first few weeks of the new term.

Monday 25th January 2016
As it was Burns day we thought it would be tasty to have a Scottish snack. We tried Scottish oatcakes, cheese, butter, raspberries, shortbread and haggis. Some of us thought the haggis was yummy and wanted more.

We also read some Robbie burns poems and the Selkirk grace.
Some hae meat and canna eat,
                                             And some would eat that want it;
But we hae meat, and we can eat,
Sae let the Lord be thank it.

We also listened to some Scottish music by the Kirkwall City Pipe Band. The children played instruments to the music and some children showed us their highland dancing.
