Make A Difference Week

We would like to say a Big Thank You to the parents that came in to help us out during MAD Week and to the children for all their hard work.

Lewis' mum helped us to make dancing/wind rings for playing with outside. Scott's mum showed some of us how to plant bulbs we had to mind on to put them in the right way so the roots were going down into the ground.

We made windy ribbon rings and sticks and our own sun
catchers using old c.d's and beads.

We got busy weeding, digging and edging the grass.

We are enjoying doing lots of different things in the nursery garden.

Hand Washing Visit - 09.10.14

On Thursday morning and afternoon we had the hand washing nurses visit the Nursery to show us how to wash our hands. The ladies said that we have lots of tiny bugs on our hands that we cannot see and they can make us sick if we don't wash them away.  So it is really important to wash our hands.

Handy ImageThey reminded us that we needed to wash our hands:

Before eating our food.
After Going to the toilet.
After playing outside or when we finish playing with messy stuff like paint.
After touching animals.
After coughing or sneezing.

We looked at our hands under a special machine. It had a purple light shining and showed us all the bits we needed to clean. We put cream on our hands and then went and washed it off, we washed and dried our hands the way the ladies showed us how to. We then put our hands back in the special machine and looked to see how well we had done with washing them.

We watched a cartoon on the Smartboard about Special Agent Handy who went on a germ busting mission. He taught us a new song, and showed us all how to wash our hands properly.

Wash, wash, wash your hands,
wash nasty germs away,
if you don’t you might get ill
and that would spoil your day.

Puddle and Gloopy Glue Fun

Check out the fun we had in the enormous puddles at preschool today.  We were learning lots of maths words as we looked for the biggest and deepest puddles to splash in!

It was too cold to stay out for long today so we had a great time making marks in the gloopy glue.  We decided that it felt cold, crackily, smooth, slimy, like shampoo and sticky.  We are going to let it dry over the holidays and look forward to seeing what our creations look like once we lift them out of the trays.
