Our first few weeks in Nursery and Preschool

Hi everyone, it has taken a few weeks but we are finally up and running!  We have had a wonderful beginning to the new term.  All of the children are settling beautifully with the preschool children helping to look after the new children.  We have been spending most of our time getting to know each other and exploring all areas of the nursery.  Here are some photos of some of the things we have been up to.

We made some playdough on the first day of term and have been exploring all the different resources that we have for the playdough.

We have been very creative at the craft area exploring the paint, glue and junk.  We were very intruiged with colour mixing - check our our pictures on our wall the next time you are in the nursery.

We have been using lots of different materials to make lots of marks in.

We have been talking about baking a lot and have been pretending that we were making buns using flour and exploring the coloured rice with bun cases and baking equipment.  We have also been doing a lot of baking and cooking role play in our house. Some of us decided to make buns for snack one day too.

There has been a lot of teamwork and problem solving happening in the building site.  We have also been developing our tidying up skills here too!

We have spent a lot of time outside each day exploring the tyres, boat, house and other areas in our wonderful garden.  We noticed one day that our tatties were ready so dug them up and then made some delicious vegetable soup for our snack.

We have been playing with the trucks and funnels in the sand and water tray and have particularly enjoyed adding colours and scents to our water.

We have been serenading all the grown ups in the nursery with beautiful tunes throughout the session, the cymbals and drums being firm favourites!

We have been changing the house into a vets this week and have been talking about animals and farms a lot over the past few weeks.  We have also been building and painting our own tractor to play in.  We have been on many exciting adventures on it including going to the beach and jungle.  We are going to be going up to the vets for a visit next week to help us develop our vets area further.
