Some of us went along to the swingpark this afternoon. We had so much fun playing on the slide, swings and the round about. On the way back to nursery we went to the Co-op to pick up snack for tomorrow. We bought bannocks, butter, apples and bananas.

Special Visitors in the nursery
We have been reading the story of 'Hare and Tortoise' written by Alison Murray this week. This story is a retold version of the traditional Aesop's Fable. There has been a lot of discussion in nursery this week about turtles and tortoises as well as hare's and rabbits.
We would like to thank Ryan Breck who kindly took his tortoises into nursery for us to see, hold and talk about. Ryan took in an 8 year old Russian (or horsfield) tortoise and two 2 year old red-footed tortoises. We all looked closely at them and asked many questions about them. Some of us stroked them to see how their shells felt and some of us even held them. We were surprised by how heavy they were and learned that the horsfield will grow to be the size of a dinner plate but the tiny red-footed pair will be even bigger than that! We were fascinated to see how quickly they actually moved across the floor. Check out our photos to see how brave we were!

Welcome back to Term 2
We started back Term 2 on Halloween and did lots of fun activities around this. We would like to say a big thank you to Caroline Wishart (George's mummy) who very kindly offered to come in and do some ghost crafts with us. We were very proud of our spooky efforts.
We have started participating in the Book Bug Picture Book Prize . We will be reading the 3 shortlisted books Shark in the Park on a windy day by Nick Sharrat, There’s a bear on my
chair by Ross Collins, and Hare and Tortoise by Alison Murray. We will read the books over the next few weeks and do some activities around them. We will then vote for our favourite of the three during Book Week Scotland (21st - 27th November). More information on the shortlisted books and the Scottish Book Trust can be found by clicking on the link: http://www.scottishbooktrust.com/bpbp/shortlist-2017
This week we did lots of activities about Shark in the Park on a Windy Day! We have read the story and recreated it in the hall. We also watched the author reading the story on the smart board, collected leaves and used these to make some art work.
In the arts and crafts area we are enjoying exploring painting. We made some lovely fireworks pictures and designed our own car using a big cardboard box!
