First weeks Term 4

We have had a really busy first few weeks back this term and a few new friends have joined us. We have been interested in space and have been doing lots of activities around this in the nursery. We have been outside lots playing and exploring in the nursery garden.

We made some cloud dough, we have had fun squishing, squeezing, patting and scraping it this week.

We did some blow painting with straws

We had a closer look at the baby stick insects

We have been outside lots some days we have been squelching in the mud and other days enjoying the lovely sunshine!

Sometimes we like to have a little rest and enjoy some nice quiet time with a good book!

Daily Mile

We have started to practice for our daily mile challenge by walking around the peedie sea paths. We really enjoy getting out in the fresh air seeing the ducks, swans and lovely Orkney scenery.

The boys and girls in class 4/5 have come with us some days and have done a super job leading the way, looking after us and chatting to us as we walk around. We would like to say a big thank you to them and to Miss Falconer for being such great buddies!

Parent helpers are needed to come along with the bairns during the sponsor week so if you have a free hour in the morning or afternoon any day during the week 9th -13th May please sign up to help in the parent waiting area. Thank you.

Spring, Ice cream making, Den building and outside play!

It has been a busy few weeks in the nursery which we have mainly spent playing outside in the beautiful weather we have been having.  There has been a lot of play in the outdoor kitchen with the children setting up their own outdoor ice cream cafĂ©.
We had a go at making our own ice-cream in the nursery.  We tried Banana flavour and Raspberry flavour.
Den building has been popular both in and outside of nursery for the past few weeks.  We have had to think about what materials to use to create the structures we were picturing.  Some had floors, some had roofs, some had walls.

We even created our own campfire to keep us cosy outside.
We have been noticing the signs of Spring around us and some of the children decided to create a spring tree inside the nursery.  If you get a chance come and have a look at the children's creation - especially their 3D nests.
We discovered worms in our muddy pit and have been investigating them this week.
We hooked the swing up and have been risk assessing how to keep ourselves safe on it and around it.
Here is just a snapshot of some of the other activities we have been doing whilst outside.  We have had a lot of fun and are looking forward to more of this lovely weather after the holidays.
