Muddisdale for a walk

A few of the lunch bairns went on a senses walk to Muddisdale on Thursday morning. We saw and heard lots of things including birds, diggers, an aeroplane, the cathedral spire a long way in the distance and an ambulance siren. There were lots of trees and leaves and bushes to explore in. It was great fun we enjoyed our little trip out.

For our open day we created a series of posters which are dotted about the nursery regarding the benefits of play in some of the areas around the nursery. This is not an extensive list however some food for thought regarding some of the important skills your child is developing whilst playing. Welcome Back - Term 2

First week back of term 2 has been busy with lots more fun inside and out. Here are a few photos of us enjoying our days at nursery.

We looked at Autumn leaves and trees across at the Peedie Sea paths. 

Our house has been transformed into a school, we have been reading and enjoying mouse's first night at midnight school as part of the Scottish Children's book awards. We love playing hide and seek too!

We used up some of our energy playing in the ballpool.

 

On Friday we had to catch our own snack!

End of Term One

 

What a busy time we have had this last week in nursery. We have had so much fun learning lots of new things this term and now we're ready for our 2 weeks off! See you all back Monday 26th October.

A great big walk, round the peedie sea, past the fire station, wee rest in the library and back to school with peedie tired legs!

Vegetables and Harvest Time.

We have been exploring real fruit and vegetables.

We dug up some tatties and carrots from the vegetable patch in the Nursery Garden.

In the house corner. We've been chopping up carrots, tatties, limes and lemons to see what they look like inside. Some of them are quite hard so we need to be careful when using the knifes. Some of us were brave enough to taste the lemons!

Sour Lemons

We looked at how farmers use machinery to help them harvest lots of vegetables and crops at the one time. Some of us have been inside a combine harvester before and told our friends all about the machines - They are really big!

Some of us went along to the co-op to look at the kinds of fruit and vegetables they sell.

We took some carrots, parsnips, onions, tatties, sweet potatoes and broccoli back to the nursery.

We looked and talked about the vegetables and chopped them up. We used them to make vegetable soup for our snack, yum!

We invited our parents to come into nursery to have a play, look around and find out what we like to do when we come to nursery.

We made some banana loaf and lemon drizzle cakes so that the parents could have a nice treat with their tea and coffee.

We made some signs to make sure the children didn't go near the hot tea and coffee.

We had fun showing our mum's and dad's all the fun things we get to do at nursery.

We also did some singing and rhymes with our parents before we went home. I think the mum's and dad's were very impressed with our beautiful singing.
